Summary:
The Food Service Lead will serve as the supervisor for his/her food service operation area. S/he will work directly with the Food Service Manager/Director of Food Service to implement programs as specified.
Responsibilities:
Create weekly orders for your school or department for the Food Service Manager.
Verify and temp orders received while placing in appropriate areas and rotating stock.
Track production records, inventory and any other paperwork that you might get asked to do.
Supervise, train and assign and work alongside your co-workers for all positions in your kitchen.
Make sure that your staff is following all state and federal guidelines as well as all health department regulations.
Help keep our program financially sound by watching costs, food waste, theft and labor time.
Most important of all is to interact positively with students and staff and have your co-workers do the same.
Prepare, cook and serve menu items as planned. Records temperature of food and completes production records.
Serves food items to customers from serving lines in accordance with specific instructions ensuring appropriate portions are served.
Must wash pots and pans and clean-up all working areas of kitchen, including floors, hoods, walls, and serving carts.
Collects and places garbage and trash in designated containers as appropriate to the area of operations.
Attends day to day problems and needs concerning equipment and food supplies, detects and ensures disposition of spoiled or unattractive food, defective supplies, etc.
Replenishes foods, silverware, dishes, trays, etc. at serving stations; may order products.
Attend assigned training mandated by the Michigan Department of Education.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required.
Must enjoy working with children.
Must be positive, pleasant, neat, clean and able to work well with others and be able to accept change.
Need to be able to supervise the work of others while creating harmony amongst all team players.
Must have working knowledge of preparing meals for large groups and experience working in a cafeteria.
Accurate math skills are required along with strong oral and written communication and organizational skills.
Must have computer knowledge and be able to scan student's ID cards or run point of sale computer.
Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds.
Must be able to perform a variety of tasks and accept direction.
Must be able to read and mathematically adjust numbers or recipes.
Strong oral and written communication, interpersonal and organizational skills are required.
Must be Serve-Safe certified, or ability to obtain and maintain certification.

7:30 - 1:30 PM

Compensation:
Level II: $18.27 - $20.13
