Food Service Manager
Hours: 8am-4pm
Pay 60,000 - 65,000 Annually
SUMMARY:
The Food Service Director is responsible for the overall management, compliance, and oversight of the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) across both the Early Education Center and the Children’s Center. This role ensures that all meals served at both school locations meet federal and state CACFP requirements, while maintaining accurate documentation, monitoring program integrity, and supporting high-quality nutrition services for children.
The Food Service Director works collaboratively with leadership at both sites to ensure full compliance with all CACFP regulations, including eligibility, enrollment, meal patterns, recordkeeping, and meal service operations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
CACFP Compliance & Program Oversight
- Ensure full compliance with all CACFP federal and state regulations and guidelines across both school locations
- Serve as the primary point of contact for CACFP audits, reviews, and monitoring visits for both the Early Education Center and Children’s Center
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of CACFP requirements and implement changes across both programs
- Develop, implement, and enforce CACFP policies and procedures consistently across both sites
Eligibility & Enrollment
- Oversee the collection, review, and approval of CACFP enrollment and income eligibility forms for both centers
- Ensure all required documentation is complete, accurate, and maintained confidentially at each site
- Track and maintain current eligibility status for all enrolled children across both programs
- Train site leadership and staff at both locations on proper enrollment procedures and timelines
Menu Planning & Meal Patterns
- Develop and approve menus that meet CACFP meal pattern requirements for all age groups across both sites
- Purchases and maintains inventory of all food
- Ensure meals meet nutritional standards, portion sizes, and component requirements
- Monitor substitutions at both locations to ensure compliance with CACFP guidelines
- Maintain documentation of menus, production records, and meal modifications (including allergies and special diets) for both centers
Meal Service & Operations
- Oversee daily meal service at both locations to ensure compliance with CACFP requirements (including timing, supervision, and service style)
- Ensure meals are served in appropriate settings and meet program standards across both sites
- Conduct regular on-site observations at each center to ensure compliance and quality
- Collaborate with kitchen staff and classroom teams at both locations to ensure smooth operations
- Ensure the highest standards of food safety and sanitation by rigorously following regulatory guidelines, preventing contamination risks, and maintaining a clean, compliant environment
- Ensuring knowledge of all children’s protocols and allergens
Meal Counting & Recordkeeping
- Ensure accurate daily meal counts at the point of service at both centers
- Oversee completion and review of attendance and meal count records at each site
- Maintain all required CACFP documentation for both programs, including:
o Meal counts
o Attendance records
o Menus and production records
o Enrollment and eligibility forms
- Ensure all records are audit-ready and maintained per required retention timelines across both locations
- Supervision of all cooks and good staff
Monitoring & Training
- Conduct internal CACFP monitoring reviews as required for both sites (e.g., three reviews per year per site, as applicable)
- Identify areas of non-compliance at either location and implement corrective actions
- Provide ongoing training and support to staff at both centers on CACFP requirements, including:
o Meal service procedures
o Meal counting
o Documentation expectations
- · Ensure corrective action plans are developed and implemented consistently across both programs
Collaboration & Communication
- Work closely with Program Directors and site leadership at both centers to ensure program alignment
- Maintain a consistent presence across both locations to support compliance and operations
- Communicate regularly with staff across both programs regarding CACFP updates, expectations, and best practices
- Support center-wide initiatives related to nutrition, health, and wellness
- Attend meetings, trainings, and professional development as required.
- Maintain all program and Agency required trainings.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
- 10 plus years experience in Food Service Management,
- ServSafe Certification or equivalent food safety training
- Experience in childcare or early education programs
- Experience with Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) guidelines and documentation procedures preferred
- Current Serve Safe Certification
- Skill in interacting appropriately with children, clients and staff
- Knowledge of USDA and local health and food service regulations
- Ability to provide a current copy of all required health records
- All candidates must have a qualifying criminal background check. Driver’s license preferred but not required
