FOOD SERVICE SPECIALIST

The Milwaukee Rescue Mission (MRM) is seeking a full-time Food Service Specialist. This position is responsible for preparing and serving food at our North Campus, which includes Cross Trainers Academy (K4-12th grade school). This is a commercial kitchen setting that includes, but is not limited to, a Combi-oven, mixer, meat slicer, dish washer, warming trays, cooler and freezer.

WORK SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday, 7:00am-3:00pm

LOCATION: North Campus, 1530 W. Center Street, Milwaukee, WI. 53206

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Prepare and serve school breakfast, lunch & occasional community meals in a courteous customer service orientated manner
• Follow proper personal hygiene and sanitation procedures that are necessary for the safe and sanitary handling of food
• Monitor food and equipment temperatures at all times
• Maintain a neat, clean and safe work environment
• Set up and break down of serving areas
• Assist with cleaning dishes and utensils, equipment, food preparation/serving/storage areas, and the dining facility for the purpose of maintaining sanitary conditions
• Assist in receiving shipments and stocking storage areas
• Monitor inventory, identify and report shortfalls in stock

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• Knowledge of food and safety standards; ServSafe certification preferred
• Prior experience in a commercial kitchen
• Must understand proper temperature control and temperature monitoring in food service
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to effectively manage time and meet all specified deadlines
• Exhibit courtesy, tact, and reasonable speed in performance of duties
• Be energetic, patient, precise and attentive to customers
• Must interact well with children of various ages
• Respectful of co-workers, school staff, students and community
• Reliability, dependability, and punctuality are expected
• Must be able to handle physical workload - ability to stand for long periods of time, walking, stair climbing, kneeling, squatting, crouching, reaching, handling and gripping without difficulty, repetitive movement of both hands and arms, as well as frequent lifting or moving items with a maximum weight of 55 lbs a short distance (ex: floor to shelf or cart), and pushing or pulling heavier items with the use of a cart or dolly.
• Be in agreement with and subscribe to the MRM Statement of Faith and the MRM Statement of Biblical Convictions
• Be a committed follower of the Lord Jesus Christ, which is evident in personal testimony and Christian conduct
• Pass a pre-employment background check and drug test
