Position: 10.5-Month School-Year Position (Contracted through EduStaff)

Location: LHS

Work schedule: 6.5 hours/day • MondayâFriday • 6:30 a.m. â 1:00 p.m.

Pay Rate: $17.84/hour

Reports To: FS Procurement & Banquet Coordinator, LHS Kitchen Manager, Director of Food & Nutrition Services.

Position Summary

Lamphere Schools is seeking a dependable, organized, and team-oriented Food Service Stock Assistant & Kitchen Helper to support daily kitchen operations. This position assists with receiving deliveries, organizing inventory, preparing and serving meals, and maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient kitchen while providing excellent customer service to students and staff.

Minimus Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • ServSafe certification required or willingness to obtain.
  • Ability to pass a required physical examination.
  • Knowledge of basic food safety and sanitation practices.
  • Basic computer, point-of-sale (POS), and cash handling skills.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform the physical demands of a commercial kitchen.

Key Responsibilities

Essential Duties

  • Receive, inspect, and organize food and supply deliveries.
  • Maintain inventory and rotate stock using the First In, First Out (FIFO) method.
  • Assist with preparing district orders and delivering supplies as needed.
  • Assist with food preparation, meal service, and cashiering.
  • Operate the point-of-sale (POS) system and assist with cash handling.
  • Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, work areas, and serving lines.
  • Label, date, and properly store food items.
  • Follow USDA, MDE, HACCP, and district food safety procedures.
  • Assist with other food service duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Frequently bend, reach, squat, and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Safely operate commercial kitchen equipment.
  • Work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
