Position Details

POSITION: Food Service Sub

REPORTS TO: Food Service Director

STARTING DATE: As soon as possible

SUMMARY: Performs a variety of tasks in the preparation and cooking of food; performs all related work as required; conforms to schedules established by the Food Service Director.

NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Pleasant, cheerful attitude toward co-workers, student and adult customers.
• Ability to maintain Health Department regulations.
• At least two years of experience as a Cook or comparable experience.
• Ability to effectively lead and coordinate the work activities of all kitchen staff in assigned location.
• Possession of the necessary physical capabilities to perform the duties of the position.
• Maintains Food Safety Manager certification

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Reads and interprets menus and recipes.
• Operates standard cooking equipment such as mixers, ranges, steamers, slicers….
• Prepares and cooks food as directed.
• Maintains equipment and facilities.
• Manages line service and a la carte items that are assigned.
• Maintains equipment and facilities.
• Familiar with and follows all District, State and Federal food service rules and regulations
• Attends training classes as scheduled.
• Performs other duties as required.

WAGES AND BENEFITS:

• Starting probatoinary pay is $17.32 / hour
• Training will be provided
• Employees will be enrolled in the MI schools retirement system
