QUALIFICATIONS: Must meet the hiring standards for New School Nutrition Program Directors for
student enrollment of 2,499 or less.
Recognized Food Safety Manager Certification, such as "ServSafe"
ANNUAL SALARY: Based upon education and experience.
REPORTS TO: Assistant Superintendent
JOB GOAL: Directs the District's Food Service Program in conformance with local, State, and Federal regulations and requirements, including public health and safety.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plan and implement work schedules and recommend changes in staff levels.
- Hire, supervise, evaluate and discipline all Food Service employees.
- Plan Food Service staff in-services.
- Establish standards for the professional growth of the District's Food Service personnel, as well as provide on the job training.
- Communicate program information and policies to parents, students, school employees, and the Board of Education.
- Attend regular Directors' meetings at the Macomb Intermediate School District.
- Responsible for cycle menu planning that conforms to Federal and State regulations.
- Monitor food production, production records, and service to ensure that planned menus are followed and that substitutions comply with meal requirements.
- Plan disposition of government commodities as part of the ongoing food service program.
- Check all government reimbursements.
- Prepare specifications and bid conditions for all items requiring such bids by law or Board policy.
- Assure sanitation and safety procedures in all phases of the food service operation using HACCP, as well as adhere to all sanitation standards set by Macomb County.
- Prepare all reports for the MDE.
- Ensure reimbursement meal service reports are submitted accurately and timely, using the MIND system.
- Process and approve all applications for free and reduced lunches.
- Keep records current for State audits, and complete verification yearly using the Meal Magic POS system.
