Position Summary:

The Food Service Worker prepares and serves food in a high-volume dining environment, ensuring food quality and safety and delivering exemplary customer service. The role supports daily food production and service operations, ensures adherence to sanitation standards, and contributes to a positive dining experience.

Essential Job Duties: 

• Prepare and serve food in accordance with established quality, safety, and portioning standards. 

• Clean and sanitize dishes, utensils, and equipment according to food codes and department sanitation practices.   

• Operate and maintain foodservice equipment safely and effectively. 

• Monitor food temperatures, restock supplies, and ensure uninterrupted service flow. 

• Complete opening and closing procedures and participate in inventory-related tasks. 

• Indirectly supervise and guide student and hourly staff in food production and service. 

• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards across all assigned work areas. 

• Other duties as needed. 

 

Conditions of Employment: 

• Pre-employment Criminal Background Check (required for new hires).

• Pre-employment Physical: Successfully complete the WorkSTEPS evaluation. 

• Essential Services Designation - Required to report without delay or interruption to provide essential or emergency services to ensure health, safety, and welfare. 

• Shift Work This position may be required to work extended shift hours and/or a modified swing shift to meet departmental staffing requirements. 

• Special Requirements/Other: Must obtain the ServSafe Certification within six months of hire and maintain it throughout employment. 

 

Minimum Qualifications:   

Minimum Years of Experience and/or Skills:

• Six months of experience in a customer service capacity in food service, retail, hospitality, or related industry. 

 

Preferred Qualifications:  

• Six months+ experience in a foodservice or retail operation.  

• Experience in a high-volume foodservice operation. 

• Hiring Authority Demonstrated ability to handle multiple activities and tasks with competing priorities. 

• Demonstrated interpersonal and verbal communication skills necessary for building and maintaining successful work relationships. Exemplary customer service skills.  

• Demonstrated experience providing memorable customer service interactions with customers and colleagues.  

• Food safety certification such as ServSafe.

Salary Range

$39,816 - $43,798
