Job Purpose

As a Food Service Worker, you will help maintain a safe, clean, and organized kitchen environment while following dietary safety guidelines. You will assist with food preparation, meal service, and sanitation to ensure a high standard of hygiene and food safety. Your work will support our mission by serving residents, guests, and coworkers with respect and care.


Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, serve, and deliver meals, including staff lunch and Mercy Center Auburn deliveries

  • Assist with setup and breakdown for special events and catering

  • Maintain high sanitation standards in kitchen, dining areas, storage, and equipment

  • Operate kitchen equipment safely and correctly

  • Follow proper procedures for cleaning, chemical use, and hand-washing

  • Monitor and replenish supplies, wash dishes, carts, shelves, ovens, stoves, and other equipment

  • Communicate respectfully with coworkers, residents, and guests

  • Participate in safety training and follow all OSHA guidelines


Qualifications

Required:

  • At least 1 year of related food service experience or equivalent education/training

  • Valid CA Food Handlers Card (or obtain within 30 days of employment)

  • Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays

  • Ability to follow instructions and complete tasks efficiently

  • Team player with strong service orientation

Preferred:

  • High school diploma or GED

  • Strong communication skills in English


Physical Requirements

  • Frequent walking, bending, stooping, and lifting up to 30 lbs

  • Ability to work in hot, cold, and steam-filled environments

  • Able to push/pull objects and use proper body mechanics

  • Must be able to read, distinguish colors, and hear normal sounds in a busy environment
