FOOD SERVICE WORKER
Pay: $15.00/hr
Location: Various locations in Indiana University
Entry Level Position
Shifts: Varies, between 5:30 AM to 11:30 PM, some weekends
REQUIREMENTS
- Serves meals to customers in a friendly, orderly manner.
- May provide individual portions to customers or oversee self-service concepts.
- Monitors food levels and refills serving trays to provide consistent service during rush hours.
- Answers staff and customer questions about meals, ingredients, or allergy concerns.
- Assists with food production under direct supervision.
- Washes, peels, or cuts ingredients to prepare for cooking or service.
- Measures ingredient quantities and provides additional culinary support to cooks.
- May also handle various meat products in both raw and cooked stages.Follows instructions from cooks and supervisors when preparing and serving meals.
- Maintains the cleanliness of dining rooms.
- Sanitizes and clears dishes from tables, removes trash, mops/sweeps spills and messes from floors.
- Assists the dish room during rush hours, sanitizing dishware such as pots, pans, food preparation equipment, and trays.
- Performs maintenance on dishwasher and other food preparation equipment.
- Must wear non-slip shoes and black pants to each shift. A T-shirt will be provided upon orientation.

- Ability to perform work requiring considerable standing and light-medium physical effort under hot and humid working conditions.
- Ability to maintain acceptable standards of personal hygiene.
- Ability to review and analyze impending menus to determine appropriate levels for supplies.
- Ability to work in team environment as an effective team player.
- Ability to work with a wide variety of cultures and backgrounds.
