    Job Summary

    PRN DAYS

    The Food Service Worker performs various jobs for patient food preparation.

    Responsibilities

    General Functions:

    • Performs duties for patient tray preparation, retail sales and catering.
    • Assembles patients' trays.
    • Chops, slices, and peels food
    • Transports carts to and from the different units
    • Delivers trays and snacks to the patient.
    • Transport of food to other areas as needed.
    • Washes pots and pans by hand and by machine
    • Cleans and sanitizes dishes.
    • Operates, cleans, and sanitizes necessary equipment.
    • Sweeps and mops all areas of the department.
    • Collects and disposes of trash.
    • Stocks and cleans nourishment rooms/refrigerators as assigned.
    • Adheres to all local, state, and federal regulations.
    • Utilizes resources efficiently and effectively.
    • Maintains safe work environment.
    • Addresses patient population-specific needs
    • Participates in Performance Improvement activities.

    Qualifications

    MINIMUM EDUCATION: Able to read, write and understand the English language.

    PREFERRED EDUCATION: High School Graduate or equivalent

    PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: 1 year in patient-feeding food service establishment

    REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: ANSI Accredited Texas Food Handler or ANSI Accredited Food Manager course or Certified Food Manager from the San Antonio Metropolitan Health District.
