The Food Service Worker II at the Callier Child Development Center plays a vital role in supporting daily kitchen operations by assisting with food preparation, maintaining accurate records, and upholding high standards of quality and safety.

This position offers opportunities for growth through cross‑training in all areas of food service. The ideal candidate delivers excellent customer service, thrives in a team‑oriented environment, and can confidently read and follow recipes to ensure consistent, nutritious meal production.

Minimum Education and Experience

Experience following basic work instructions. Two years food service experience.

  • One to five years of experience in child-focused or institutional food service.
  • Certification in ServSafe or equivalent food safety and sanitation training.
  • Experience with cash handling, point‑of‑sale systems, or basic computer terminals preferred.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Wash, peel, cut, and prepare vegetables, fruits, and other ingredients according to standardized recipes.
  • Measure and assemble ingredients for recipes to support cooks and food service staff.
  • Prepare cold foods, salads, grab-and-go items, and other pre-assembly tasks as assigned.
  • Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines, including proper storage, labeling, and rotation (FIFO).
  • Maintain clean and organized prep stations, equipment, and storage areas.
  • Assist with receiving and storing food deliveries, verifying quality and quantity.
  • Monitor inventory levels and notify supervisors when supplies are low.
  • Complete daily production records accurately, including documenting items prepared, quantities, leftovers, and waste.
  • Communicate effectively with cooks, supervisors, and team members to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
  • All cafeteria staff members must collect the counting and claiming Pink Sheets after breakfast and lunch service

End-of-Shift Responsibilities

  • Ensure all kitchen areas, tools, and equipment are thoroughly cleaned and sanitized before closing.
  • Properly store leftover food items in labeled, dated containers.
  • Review the next day's menu and prepare any necessary ingredients in advance.
  • Secure all kitchen areas and verify that appliances are turned off or set safely.
  • Communicate any supply shortages, maintenance needs, or menu changes to the Food Service Supervisor.
