The Food Service Worker performs basic food preparation and service for the congregate and home delivered meals nutrition services program for older adults; maintains a clean kitchen
The Food Service Worker position pays $16.00hour. The schedule is Monday - Friday, 8:30 to 12:30. Generous benefits include: - 403b retirement savings

Responsibilities include: - Performs basic food preparation and service for the congregate and home delivered meals nutrition services program for older adults; maintains a clean kitchen
- Prepares food as assigned by Kitchen Supervisor or Cook
- Assists in counter service, assembling and portioning food
- Assists in hot and frozen food packing and storage
- Cleans work areas after meals; washes dishes and pans by hand and uses the dishwasher
- Cleans kitchen areas, refrigerators, coolers, dishwashers, etc.
- Works in dishwashing area
- Restocks and stores items in the proper area
- Follows all federal, state, and program health and safety requirements
Required skills and abilities: - Ability to follow oral and written instructions
- Ability to work well with others
- Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position
- Must complete the Red Certification and Food Safety Course administered by the Division of Environmental Health at the Tioga County Health Department within 6 months of hire
Physical Demands: Constantly: Activity/condition exists from 2/3 or more of the time - Stands for food preparation and serving.
- Walks in the kitchen, storeroom, freezer, and cooler
Frequently: Activity/condition exists from 1/3 to 2/3 of the time - Lifts and carries items from shelves in storeroom, food from ovens and stoves, and deliveries of 40 pounds; assists in the lifting of more than 40 pounds
- Lifts products up to 3 feet high to place food in cart or to place in storeroom on shelves.
Occasionally: Activity/condition exists up to 1/3 of the time - Pushes and pulls kitchen carts and equipment
- Bends, crouches, and kneels for supplies and equipment
- Reaches to upper shelves and equipment when a ladder is not needed
- Uses step ladder to reach upper shelves where food and supplies are stored
