Job Summary
We are seeking a Food Service Worker to join the team at our VA Health Center! Food Service Worker performs routine tasks including food preparation, counter service, cashiering, inventory rotation, and strict sanitation maintenance. Job requirements in the Portland metro area are heavily shaped by regional employers like Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU), Portland State University (PSU), Portland Community College (PCC), and local school districts. 

Core Responsibilities

Food Preparation & Service

• Basic Assembly: Preparing simple menu items, trimming produce, slicing meats, and assembling patient trays or student meals.
• Line Serving: Setting up, refilling, and serving hot or cold items on the cafeteria line.
• Portion Control: Measuring exact servings according to specific recipe cards or medical diet restrictions.
• Catering Setup: Transporting meal carts and setting up designated layout spaces for special corporate or campus events

Qualifications: 

• Experience as a busser, barback, food runner, or similar position is preferred
• Familiarity with food safety guidelines
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 30 pounds
• Friendly and outgoing personality
• Availability to work evening and weekend shifts
