    The Virginia School for the Deaf and the Blind (VSDB) is located in the historic, vibrant city of Staunton, Virginia. VSDB provides superior education for students who are deaf/hard of hearing, blind/vision impaired, deafblind, and deaf or blind with other disabilities.

    VSDB offers PreK-12 education with both residential and day student options.

    About this position

    The Food Service Worker (Wage) at the Virginia School for the Deaf and the Blind (VSDB) will assist with the preparation and serving of meals, cleaning the dining and kitchen areas, washing dishes, receiving food orders and putting stock in correct storage places. Assist with record keeping.

    The Food Service Worker (Wage) is to provide healthy, safe and sanitary meals for the students and staff of the school, with friendly customer service.

    The hours for this position are Mon, Tue, Wed, Thur - 4:00pm - 7:00pm

    Minimum Qualifications

    General Knowledge of health regulations

    Sill in food preparation

    Knowledge of institutional food equipment and cleaning supplies

    Novice level of ASL as measured by the Sign Language Proficiency interview or agreement to acquire the specified level within three years

    Physical Requirements:
    Ability to lift 25 pounds, perform repetitive motion to include standing, sitting, reaching, lifting, walking, bending and climbing.

    Additional Considerations

    Prefer some experience in food service
