A Small Part of the Day That Makes a Big Difference
A welcoming meal line can set the tone for a student's day. When service is organized, accounts are handled accurately, and students are greeted with patience and kindness, they can focus less on the process and more on eating, connecting with friends, and returning to class ready to learn.
This position supports students at both Lake Spokane Elementary and Lakeside Middle School. It is a good fit for someone who enjoys working with children, takes pride in keeping things accurate, and wants meaningful work within a focused part-time schedule. The work may happen in short shifts, but its impact is felt by students and the food service teams that care for them each day.
Terms of Employment and Salary
The hourly rate range for this position is $18.39 - 23.99. Salary placement will be at Step 1 of the Nine Mile Classified Public Employees Association Collective Bargaining Agreement unless documentation of qualifying experience is received in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
The Collective Bargaining Agreement and salary schedules can be found on the For Employees page of the Nine Mile Falls School District website at 9mile.org. Nine Mile Falls School District policies and procedures can be accessed at 9mile.org under the Our District page.
Each employee shall accumulate up to twelve (12) days of sick leave per year. An employee working less than a full work year is entitled to a proportionate share of the sick leave allowance. For example, an employee working ten months will receive ten days of sick leave.
A maximum of three (3) Annual Leave days is provided based on the employee's scheduled hours per day. Annual Leave may be used for an absence during scheduled work hours or accumulated for cash-out in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Employees anticipated to work more than 630 hours per year are eligible for benefits through the School Employees Benefits Board (SEBB). Standard benefits include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and long-term disability coverage.
Positions anticipated to work 70 hours or more per month for at least five months during a 12-month period are eligible for retirement through the Washington State Department of Retirement Systems.
Schedule: This is a split-shift position totaling 2.5 hours per day on student attendance days when meal service is provided, according to the District calendar.
