CHRISTIAN PURPOSE AND EXPECTATIONS:

Department Detail –The Food Services Department strives to maintain the standard of Servant Hospitality and food service set forth by The Billy Graham Training Center at the Cove (BGTC). Food Services is responsible for the overall preparation, service, and presentation of food for any event at The Cove.

Job Summary –The Food Services Coordinator is responsible for the oversight of guests dining at The Cove, including all meals and breaks served outside the dining room.

Ministry Requirements

• Maintains a personal, active relationship with Jesus Christ and is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ
• Faithfully upholds BGEA in prayer
• Participates in daily BGEA staff devotions including Bible reading, and leading group prayer as schedule permits
• Demonstrates behavior aligned with BGEA’s Mission Statement, Statement of Faith, Hallmarks, policies, and expectations
• Effectively represents Jesus Christ to those within both personal and professional spheres of influence

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Serves as team lead
• Responsible for set up, service and supervision for banquet service and functions outside the normal dining service, as scheduled
• Responsible for scheduling and performing cleaning and maintenance of soft serve yogurt machines
• Assists with supervision of dining room servers, set up and operation of dining room, during meal times
• Responsible for menu board and menu tags for all meals, using proper dietary markings
• Responsible for temping food and food quality and standards
• Assists with supervision of buffet line staff, set up and operation of buffet line and break stations, during meal times
• Responsible for cleanliness and organization of dining room and hostess room
• Monitors proper uniform standards are met by all dining room staff
• Ensures readiness of dining room before service begins
• Observes NC Health Regulations to ensure a safe and sanitary work and service environment
• Serves in other Dining Room roles as necessary

Job Specifications

Skills and Knowledge

• High School Diploma or equivalent with three years of food service management
• ServSafe certification
• Practiced in culinary presentation
• Ability to communicate well one-on-one and in group settings
• Strong verbal and written communication skills especially using email and telephone
• Competent computer skills using Word, Excel and Outlook
• Familiar with and well-practiced in North Carolina health and safety codes
• Detail oriented with excellent time and project management skills
• Commitment to hospitality and excellence
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects concurrently
• Ability to meet deadlines consistently and dependably
• Ability to work independently without close supervision
• Willingness to take initiative and be a proactive problem solver
• Ability to analyze and make decisions based on BGTC protocols
• Maintain confidentiality where appropriate

Physical/Mental Demands

• Ability to move easily and stand for extended periods of time
• Ability to lift 35 pounds
• Extended daily, evening and weekend hour may be required

• We believe that we must dedicate ourselves to prayer, to the service of our Lord, to His authority over ourlives, and to the ministry of evangelism.  (Matthew 9:35-38; 22:37-39, and 28:18-20; Acts 1:8; Romans 10:9-15 and 12:20-21; Galatians 6:10; Colossians 2:6-10; 1 Peter 3:15).
• We believe that human life is sacred from conception to its natural end; and that we must have concern for the physical and spiritual needs of our fellowmen.  (Psalm 139:13; Isaiah 49:1; Jeremiah 1:5; Matthew 22:37-39; Romans 12:20-21; Galatians 6:10).
• We believe God wonderfully and immutably creates each person a biological male or female.  These two distinct, but complementary sexes together reflect the image and likeness of God.  Rejection of one’s biological sex is a rejection of God’s merciful design and creative order.  (Genesis 1:26-27; Mark 10:6; 1 Corinthians 6:9; Deuteronomy 22:5).

• I understand that I must exhibit conduct that is consistent with BGEA’s expectations, whether at work or away from work, in keeping with scriptural teachings and principles as set forth in God’s Word, BGEA’s Statement of Faith, and BGEA’s policies including Christian Conduct.
• I understand that BGEA has the right and the responsibility to ensure that its Christian religious purpose is carried on with the highest standards and is not harmed or impeded by conduct that is inconsistent with the Bible, BGEA’s Statement of Faith, its Christian religious purpose, or its policies
