Summary

The Food Service Courier plays a key role in supporting the daily operations of the Food Services Department by transporting deposits, paperwork, food, and supplies between district kitchens. This position also assists kitchen staff with food preparation and cleaning duties as time permits, helping ensure efficient and equitable food service operations throughout the district.

Essential Functions

  • Pick up and deliver daily deposits and paperwork from each district kitchen.
  • Transport food, supplies, and materials between kitchens as needed.
  • Maintain timely and accurate delivery schedules to support kitchen operations.
  • Operate district vehicles safely and in accordance with district policies and procedures.
  • Assist kitchen staff with food preparation duties as needed.
  • Help maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards in kitchen areas.
  • Support kitchen operations during busy periods or staffing shortages.
  • Follow safe food handling and transportation practices.
  • Ensure food and supplies are transported in a safe and sanitary manner.
  • Maintain compliance with district safety procedures and vehicle operation requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with kitchen managers and Food Services staff to ensure smooth daily operations.
  • Work collaboratively with all Food Services personnel to support department goals and efficiency.

Insulated thermal bags, cup carriers, catering boxes, pan carriers, etc.

Travel Requirements

Travel to and from kitchens district wide as needed.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education and/or Experience

  • High school diploma or GED minimum.
  • Associates degree or higher preferred.
  • Two years' work experience in food service, delivery, warehouse or school nutrition operations duties preferred.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills are essential.
  • The ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality with district deposits and paperwork is required.

? Measles/Mumps/Rubella Immunity/Vaccination

? Valid I-9 form

? Valid Drivers License

? Must maintain an acceptable driving record.

? Current Food Handler's Card required or ability to obtain within a designated timeframe.

Working Environment

The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands; the employee is frequently required to sit, requires mobility for reaching filing and bending; must possess adequate hearing, oral and vision skill to perform daily functions of the job. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Ability to work in kitchen environments with varying temperatures. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Terms of Employment

? Salary based on column FSB of the approved Food Services Salary schedule as established by the Governing Board.

? This is a 10-month position, 181 days a year, 5 hours per day.

Evaluation

Performance in this position will be evaluated annually by the Cafeteria Kitchen Manager, in accordance with Governing Board Policy.
