TITLE Foreign Language Teacher - High School Spanish

QUALIFICATIONS Proper certification and licensing as required by law. Degrees and area of major study as required by law. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate.

REPORTS TO The Building-Level Principal and the Superintendent

JOB GOAL To motivate each pupil to develop competencies knowledge and skills in aurally comprehending speaking reading and writing the Spanish language in accordance with each pupils ability to interpret to pupils the cultures of Spanish-speaking countries and to discover and develop special talents of pupils in Spanish language communication.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES Teaches skills and knowledge in Spanish language instruction to primary or secondary pupils utilizing the course of study adopted by the Board of Education and other appropriate learning activities. Spanish language teachers instruct students in aural comprehension speaking reading and writing.

Instructs pupils in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district.

Develops lesson plans and supplementary instructional materials compatible with the basic instructional philosophy.

Provides learning experiences which develop basic communication skills utilizing audio recordings digital media and other electronic equipment as appropriate.

Provides individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil.

Instructs pupils in the safe operation of electronic equipment used in language instruction. Makes minor adjustments and requests repairs as required.

Develops pupil understanding and appreciation of the cultures traditions and histories of Spanish-speaking countries.

Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to provide an orderly and productive classroom environment.

Evaluates each pupils progress in aural comprehension speaking reading and writing Spanish in relation to the level being taught.

Selects and requisitions books instructional aids and instructional supplies and maintains required inventory records.

Communicates with parents and school counselors regarding pupil progress.

Identifies pupil needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in helping pupils solve health attitude and learning problems.

Supervises pupils in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned working day.

Participates in curriculum development and other instructional improvement programs.

Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district andor self-selected professional growth activities such as Spanish language workshops and cultural immersion opportunities.

Participates cooperatively with the appropriate administrator to develop the method by which heshe will be evaluated in conformance with district guidelines.

Performs such other tasks as may from time to time be assigned by the Principal or Superintendent and within local contractpolicy state and federal regulations.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT 184 days Salary established by the Master Contractual Agreement Work year established by the Board
