FMS Logistics Specialist

Position Summary

The FMS Logistics Specialist is responsible for overseeing and managing all logistics and configuration management activities supporting Foreign Military Sales (FMS) mission planning hardware and software. This role ensures full lifecycle accountability of FMS assets, including hardware inventory tracking, software configuration control, and secure shipment to partner nations in compliance with all regulatory and country-specific requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Hardware Logistics Management

• Track all FMS-procured hardware throughout its lifecycle, including acquisition, delivery, evaluation, storage, preparation, and final shipment to foreign customers
• Coordinate shipment of FMS hardware and software via approved freight forwarders in accordance with country-specific Transportation Plans
• Maintain a comprehensive database of freight forwarders and “ship-to” addresses
• Track and manage all classified and unclassified shipments from the Mission Planning System Support Facility (MPSSF) through final delivery
• Provide shipment status updates as required

Software Configuration Management

• Perform configuration management of FMS Mission Planning Environments (MPEs) from testing through final release
• Identify, track, and manage all country-specific MPE configurations at the component level
• Assign and manage tracking numbers (CPIN-equivalent) for all software components
• Maintain configuration status accounting and ensure the FMS configuration database remains current
• Maintain a historical record of all released country MPE versions

Software & Media Handling

• Perform software duplication and distribution via digital formats and physical media
• Document and distribute software patches and updates to FMS customers
• Track software licenses and activation keys for deployed systems
• Maintain master copies of all delivered MPE software for re-release, rebuilds, and troubleshooting support

Coordination & Compliance

• Maintain and file AF Form 310 and certified delivery receipts for classified shipments
• Notify the U.S. Government of unreturned receipts within required timelines (45 days)
• Collaborate with FMS Team Lead, Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), Technical Writers, and Country Managers
• Conduct hardware and software configuration audits and checks

Qualifications

• Active Secret Security Clearance (required)
• Experience in logistics and supply chain management, including full lifecycle tracking of hardware
• Experience in software configuration management and version control
• Experience handling and shipping classified and unclassified materials
• Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail
• Proficiency in maintaining databases for logistics and configuration tracking
• Knowledge of shipping regulations, freight forwarding processes, and country-specific transportation requirements
• Ability to work independently and adapt to changing priorities and short-notice requirements

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting Foreign Military Sales (FMS) programs
• Familiarity with ITAR regulations and Foreign Disclosure Office (FDO) processes
• Prior experience in an FMS operational environment, including case management requirements
• Strong collaboration skills working with cross-functional and government teams
• Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field
