Telecon is seeking an experienced Working Foreman with Directional Driller experience to lead a FTTH civil crew supporting fiber build projects across the Tacoma area. This is a hands-on leadership role for a working foreman who will operate a directional drill, lead and manage a mixed field crew, and own daily production, safety, and execution in the field.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operate and lead directional drilling activities in support of FTTH civil construction projects.
  • Supervise and manage a field crew, including drillers, locators, laborers, and hydrovac operators.
  • Assign and coordinate day-to-day work activities, production goals, and crew responsibilities.
  • Review work orders, prints, and project documentation to plan safe and efficient execution.
  • Interpret construction drawings and determine appropriate installation methods, equipment, and tooling.
  • Lead daily job briefings, tailgates, and safety meetings; ensure all required documentation is completed accurately.
  • Ensure all work is performed in compliance with Telecon safety policies, client requirements, and applicable regulations.
  • Coordinate equipment, materials, and vehicles to ensure crews are properly staged and prepared each day.
  • Submit and track utility locate requests and ensure dig readiness prior to excavation.
  • Monitor production, quality, and schedule adherence; proactively resolve field issues and escalate as needed.
  • Act as the primary on-site point of contact with clients, inspectors, and internal operations leadership.
  • Support emergency or after-hours work as required by project needs.
  • Ensure proper care, maintenance, and inspection of assigned vehicles, drills, hydrovacs, and equipment.
  • Review and approve crew time, production reporting, and related field documentation.
  • Mentor, train, and develop crew members to improve safety, skill, and performance.
  • Perform other duties as required to meet operational and project objectives.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in underground utility or FTTH civil construction.
  • Demonstrated experience operating a directional drill in live utility environments.
  • Prior experience leading or supervising field crews in a working foreman or lead role.
  • Strong understanding of underground utility practices, including drilling, trenching, hydrovac, and locating.
  • Proven ability to plan daily work, manage multiple priorities, and lead crews in the field.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and travel as required.
  • Ability to lift up to 80 pounds and perform physical field work.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional technical training is an asset.
