POSITION SUMMARY
Supervises and coordinates personnel and/or crews who clean, repair and maintain streets, right-of-ways, sewers, parks, playgrounds, trails, ball fields, sidewalks and other structures in an assigned division or geographic area.
Department: Public Works, Bureau of Operations
Salary: $68,348.80 per year.
Union: This position is included in the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees, Local 2037 meet and discuss unit and will be filled in accordance with the provisions of the Memorandum of Understanding.
Union Bid Form: None required.

General Requirements:

Applicants must become residents of the City of Pittsburgh prior to employment and must remain a resident throughout employment.

A current, valid Pennsylvania Class C Drivers License (or out of state equivalent) is required prior to appointment and must be maintained throughout employment. The Department of Human Resources & Civil Service will consider individual written requests for accommodation based on the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Foreman assigned to a Parks Maintenance Division, will be required to achieve the National Green Infrastructure Certification Program (NGICP) as offered by the Penn State Center within a three (3) year period.
If the program noted above is discontinued by the respective organization, management has the right to substitute similar programs for the candidate to achieve and fulfill.
NOTE: The City of Pittsburgh, as a matter of policy, conducts pre-employment and promotional background investigations on all candidates being considered for positions. Qualifying Requirements:
Your work experience and education/training will be evaluated to determine if you meet the qualifying eligibility requirements listed below for this position. You will receive notice of your eligibility status.
WORK EXPERIENCE: The application must clearly show one (1) year of full-time experience directing the work of others and/or administering the operation of public programs. Preferred experience with street and/or park maintenance practices and programs, asset management, and operations administration. (Less than full-time experience will be calculated on a pro-rated basis.)
EDUCATION/TRAINING: The application must clearly show a High School Diploma or GED Equivalency.
EQUIVALENCY: None permitted for this position. Therefore, no education/training and/or work experience may be substituted toward the qualifying requirements listed above.
CIVIL SERVICE EXAMINATIONS
If you meet the qualifying requirements listed above, you will be sent a letter of admission (when applicable) for the following examination(s). You must pass the written and/or performance examination(s) in order to have your name placed on the official Civil Service eligibility list for this position.
