Job Description Summary
The Foreman is responsible for the day-to-day operations of all concrete contracts. This is a safety sensitive position.
 
Reporting Relationships
The Foreman reports to the Superintendent or Project Manager. The following positions report to the Foreman:  Lead man, Form Setters (Carpenters), Finishers, Laborers
 
Authority
The Foreman has the authority to recommend employee hiring, terminations, and merit increases.  The Foreman is responsible to train, supervise and discipline any person directly reporting to him/her. The Foreman is also responsible to ensure that job sites, employees and all related materials or equipment comply as is appropriate to OSHA regulations and Tedesco Pacific company safety standards. 
 
Requirements:
 
Experience
A minimum of 10 years Foreman experience in the field of concrete construction or equivalent. Must be bilingual English and Spanish. 
 
Skill, Knowledge and Abilities
Using analytical and observation skills, demonstrate the ability to set a course or direction, which fulfills the vision and expectations as designed.  Possess the ability to read blueprints, be able to drive a vehicle and operate hand power tools.  Possess a good understanding of OSHA regulations and company safety standards.

Long periods of time bending, standing and/or sitting.
 
Body Movements
Ability to walk, climb, stoop, kneel or crawl over uneven ground, carry one hundred (100) pounds, operate vibrating/hopping equipment such as a Wacker, roto hammer, etc. use of hands, eyes, ears, arms and voice.
 
Body Senses
Ability to obtain information, listening, talking, seeing.
 
Mental
Requires general business math skills.  Language requirements are reading, writing, spelling and the ability to communicate clearly in English.
 
Working Conditions
Primarily outdoor activity during all seasons, some office environment.  Environment also includes driving and frequent work around motor vehicles, moving equipment and vibrating equipment.
 
Essential Functions
The basic function of the Foreman is to provide the necessary planning, organization, direction, coordination, safety management, and control to meet the schedule and budget for all assigned concrete contracts.
 
The Foreman must provide expertise by training and assisting employees who report to him/her in the preparation and/or installation of all assigned concrete contracts.
 
The Foreman should also provide ongoing support and expertise to management, assisting them in establishing goals, objectives, policies and procedures for the improvement of the company.
 
Duties & Responsibilities
 
  • Lead, guide, counsel, and direct all employees under his/her supervision.
  • Review labor and material needs for his/her projects with Superintendent.
  • Review purchase of materials with the Project Manager.
  • Assist in the development of company policies and procedures and assure compliance with these policies through motivation and constructive discipline. 
  • Provide regular updates of project schedules to Project Manager and Superintendent to ensure that operations are running according to plan and budget.
  • Maintain inventory control systems and vehicle maintenance logs to ensure care and control of all materials and equipment.
  • Perform performance appraisals in a timely manner for their crew members.
  • Ensure that employees assigned to him/her understand and can comply with the written descriptions of their job duties and those duties outlined in the Safety Program. 
  • Track and report all employee’s hours of work and time off, accurately and timely per state regulation.
  • Promote “continual improvement” with emphasis on quality installations and customer satisfaction.
  • Attend all required meetings and complete all assigned paperwork in a timely manner.
  • Follow Foreman safety responsibilities as outlined in the company written Workplace Safety Program, including but not limited to accident investigations, employee training, documentation and discipline of safety violations.
  • Follow and enforce safety procedures to ensure the quality and safety at project sites conforms to OSHA requirements and company standards.
  • Identify any new markets or new business opportunities through contact with customers and communicate them to their Superintendent or Project Manager.
  • Ensure that a positive image of the company is maintained to customers, employees, and the general public.
Maintain the confidentiality of information that may be presented by employees, coworkers and customers.
  • Ensure that customer complaints have been satisfactorily managed by resolving them directly, or through follow-up.
 
 
Measurements of Performance
Foremen receive performance evaluations at least once a year. Their evaluations are based in large part on the successful demonstration of the following:
 
  • All concrete contract installations are completed safely, and within budget.
  • Provide adequate training of employees as required.
  • Quality and safety on projects conform to OSHA regulations and company standards.
  • Demonstrate good judgment and reasoning when investigating and solving problems.
  • Vehicles, materials and equipment are well controlled and maintained.
  • Tactfully handle difficult situations and/or customer or employee complaints.
  • Consistently show ability to recognize and manage multiple priorities.
  • Complete paperwork in a timely manner.  This includes daily timesheets, safety reports, LOA requests for self or employees, and any other assigned paperwork.
  • Attend required company meetings on a consistent basis.
  • Provide annual employee performance evaluations for employees who report to him/her.
