JOB SUMMARY
Provides nursing care to individuals who present to the Harris County Hospital District for treatment, evidence collection, and injury documentation. Completes and documents physical, social, and safety assessments on each patient. Interacts in a professional manner with the patient, family, and members of the multidisciplinary team. Participates in education and implementing prevention strategies within the community. Testifies in courts of law as an expert witness. Is available to respond to locations within the Harris County Hospital District to care for victims and/or perpetrators of trauma, assault, or abuse.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Specialized Training, and Licensure • Bachelors of Science Degree in nursing • Current State of Texas RN Licensure • Preferred certified Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner through either the International Association of Forensic Nurses (IAFN) or Texas Office of the Attorney General or within two years of employment
Work Experience • Minimum of 8-10 years healthcare experience as a Registered Nurse with a background in Emergency Trauma, Labor & Delivery, Pediatrics, Intensive Care, and/or Forensic Nursing
