THE POSITION

Are you inspired to lead compassionate care as a Forensic Registered Nurse Supervisor with the Department of Human Services? This role allows you to guide a dedicated nursing team that supports patients with complex psychiatric and behavioral needs at Norristown State Hospital. You help create a safe and healing environment where patients receive the focused treatment they require. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position focuses on leading nursing staff who care for patients with acute and long-term psychiatric needs within a secure treatment setting. As a Forensic Registered Nurse Supervisor, you will perform the following duties:

• Staff Leadership: Guide, evaluate, and support nursing personnel to ensure safe and effective patient care
• Care Oversight: Monitor clinical practices and help resolve safety or treatment concerns across patient care areas
• Training Support: Provide orientation, coaching, and ongoing education to nursing and forensic staff
• Communication Management: Share essential information with staff through meetings, reports, and daily interactions
• Emergency Response: Respond promptly to psychiatric emergencies to reduce the need for restraint or seclusion
• Quality Improvement: Participate in facility committees and improvement activities to strengthen patient care services

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
• Work hours are 2nd shift (3:00 PM to 11:30 PM) with rotating on and off duty days that include weekends and holidays, along with a 30-minute lunch. Your schedule may change based on operational needs.
• Overtime may be required and subject to emergency call-in situations.
• Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
• Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• Three years as a Forensic Registered Nurse (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
• Four years of professional nursing experience providing care, treatment, custody, and control of psychiatric patients.

Special Requirements:

• This position requires active authorization to practice as a Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania.
• If you possess an active temporary practice permit, you must obtain licensure as a Registered Nurse within the one (1) year period defined by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.

Other Requirements:

• PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
• You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

• A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
• This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
• Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
