Our more than 2.4 million acres of timberland in the Western United States are sustainably managed by professionals in our Forestry Division. Currently, our Oregon Forestry District has an opening for a qualified District Forester to help manage the Companyxe2x80x99s timberlands in Oregon. The successful applicant is expected to work out of our Oregon District offices located in either Eugene or Roseburg, Oregon.

About the Position

  • Implement all aspects of the timber harvest program, including performing harvest layout and permitting, administering road building and logging contracts, and ensuring log quality control

  • Assist in the development of harvest budgets and forecasts

  • Collaborate regarding silvicultural programs including reforestation, vegetation management, tree improvement, and inventory

  • Interact professionally and effectively with state regulatory agencies and diverse groups

  • Effectively coordinate with Federal, State, and local agencies in the protection of Company lands from wildfires

  • Hike in remote mountainous regions using maps, compass, or GPS

  • Work may consist of team or independent settings, in remote areas and in all seasons and weather conditions

  • Safely navigate hazardous mountain roads

Qualifications

  • Bachelorxe2x80x99s degree in forestry or related field, or equivalent recent, related work experience

  • 1 year experience in harvest engineering and/or harvest unit layout in the Pacific Northwest preferred

  • Demonstrated understanding of operational and cost considerations of cable and ground-based logging systems and forest road construction

  • Working knowledge of Oregon forest practice rules

  • Excellent organizational skills, self-motivated, and a strong work ethic

  • Skilled with Word, Outlook, Excel, ArcGIS software, experience with Road Eng or CAD preferred

  • Hold or obtain valid Oregon driverxe2x80x99s license

The general wage range for this position at Sierra Pacific Industries is from $65,000 to $110,000 per year, and is dependent upon a number of factors, including, but not limited to: relevant work experience, skill, knowledge, and/or education.
