Overview: An employee-owned structural steel fabrication company is seeking experienced Forklift Drivers to support material movement throughout its fabrication facility. This role is responsible for safely loading, unloading, transporting, staging, and organizing structural steel and other materials used in production.
The Role: The Forklift Driver will work closely with production, shipping, receiving, and warehouse personnel to ensure materials are delivered to the correct locations safely and efficiently. The role requires strong awareness of surroundings, careful material handling, and consistent adherence to shop safety requirements.
Responsibilities:
Safely operate forklifts and material handling equipment throughout the facility.
Load and unload structural steel, materials, supplies, and equipment.
Move and stage materials for welders, fitters, machine operators, and other production personnel.
Organize materials within designated storage and production areas.
Inspect forklifts before use and report mechanical or safety issues.
Verify materials before moving or staging them.
Assist shipping and receiving personnel as required.
Maintain clear and safe aisles, loading areas, and material storage locations.
Ensure loads are stable and properly positioned before transport.
Follow all company safety policies and forklift operating procedures.
Support inventory organization and material tracking when required.
Requirements:
Previous forklift operating experience within manufacturing, warehousing, construction, fabrication, or a similar industrial environment.
Ability to safely move large, heavy, or irregular materials.
Strong spatial awareness and attention to safety.
Ability to work around pedestrians, machinery, steel materials, and active production areas.
Reliable attendance and strong communication skills.
Ability to perform physical work when required.
Nice to Have:
Current forklift certification.
Structural steel or fabrication industry experience.
Experience handling long steel sections, beams, plates, or heavy industrial materials.
Overhead crane experience.
Shipping and receiving or inventory experience.
