Job Description

The Forklift Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of forklifts and other material handling equipment to move, locate, stack, load, and unload products within the warehouse or distribution facility. This position ensures inventory accuracy, maintains a safe work environment, and supports warehouse operations by handling materials in accordance with company procedures and safety standards. Essential functions and responsibilities may vary based on operational requirements and business needs.

Job Responsibilities

  • Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently to transport products and materials throughout the facility.
  • Load and unload trucks, trailers, and containers while ensuring proper handling of materials.
  • Receive incoming shipments and verify quantities, quality, and condition of products against shipping documents.
  • Store products in designated warehouse locations and maintain proper inventory organization.
  • Pick, stage, and prepare materials for shipment or delivery according to established procedures.
  • Conduct routine equipment inspections and report mechanical issues, safety concerns, or damage immediately.
  • Assist with inventory counts, cycle counts, and inventory reconciliation activities.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in accordance with company safety policies.
  • Follow all OSHA regulations, warehouse safety procedures, and company operational standards.
  • Ensure security and proper handling of company assets and inventory.
  • Support other warehouse and logistics functions as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous experience operating a forklift in a warehouse, manufacturing, or distribution environment required.
  • Valid forklift certification or ability to obtain certification upon hire.
  • Ability to operate material handling equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Basic math, counting, and inventory management skills.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
  • Effective verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including overtime, evenings, weekends, or holidays as business needs require.
  • Knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS) is preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, and reach for extended periods.
  • Ability to safely operate forklifts and other warehouse equipment.
  • Ability to work in varying warehouse conditions, including temperature fluctuations, dust, and noise.
  • Required use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as applicable.
