Forklift Mechanic

Location: Tulsa, OK
Pay: $17.00-$25.00 per hour, depending on experience
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM
Job Type: Temp-to-Hire

Forklift Mechanic – Must-Have Requirements

  • Valid driver's license.
  • Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
  • Own professional mechanic hand tools.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to work on heavy industrial equipment.
  • Welding experience preferred.
  • Previous mechanic or equipment maintenance experience preferred.

Forklift Mechanic – Position Summary

The Forklift Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing forklifts and a variety of heavy industrial equipment. This position will work with mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and powertrain systems while performing both preventive maintenance and emergency repairs.

The ideal candidate is a mechanically minded individual who can diagnose problems, make quality repairs, and work safely with a variety of industrial equipment. Candidates with strong mechanical aptitude and transferable experience will be considered, even if their previous experience is not specifically with forklifts.

Forklift Mechanic – Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Inspect forklifts, equipment, and operating systems to identify mechanical issues and necessary repairs.
  • Troubleshoot and repair motors, pumps, conveyors, hydraulic systems, and other mechanical components.
  • Perform preventive maintenance according to established standards and manufacturer requirements.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical problems on forklifts and other industrial equipment.
  • Service and repair scissor lifts, basket trucks, Bobcats, and other heavy equipment.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and rigging equipment on a daily basis.
  • Perform welding and fabrication repairs as needed.
  • Complete both simple and complex mechanical repairs.
  • Provide technical assistance and support to less-experienced technicians when needed.
  • Complete work orders and accurately document repairs and maintenance performed.
  • Maintain accurate personal tool lists and ensure tools are properly maintained and available for use.
  • Follow company, customer, and OSHA safety requirements and procedures.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Communicate effectively with customers, coworkers, and management.
  • Maintain positive customer and employee relationships.
  • Adjust work schedule as needed to meet customer and business demands.

Forklift Mechanic – Additional Qualifications

  • Previous forklift, industrial equipment, heavy equipment, automotive, diesel, or mechanical maintenance experience is preferred.
  • Experience troubleshooting hydraulic systems is a strong plus.
  • Welding and fabrication experience is preferred.
  • Experience working with motors, pumps, conveyors, and other industrial equipment is helpful.
  • Ability to read and understand equipment manuals, service information, and work orders.
  • Strong problem-solving and diagnostic abilities.
  • Good communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to safely lift, handle, and work around heavy equipment.
  • Dependable attendance and strong work ethic.
  • Willingness to learn and work on a variety of equipment.
