Forklift Operator

Pay: $21 per hour
Location: Southwest Indianapolis, IN
Shift: 2nd shift, 3:30 p.m.–2:00 a.m.

Westaff is hiring a Forklift Operator for a manufacturing client in Southwest Indianapolis. You’ll move materials throughout the facility, keep production lines supplied, and support shipping and receiving. This role requires careful equipment operation, accurate material handling, and a strong focus on safety.

Job Responsibilities

• Safely operate forklifts and material-handling equipment to move raw materials, work-in-process, and finished products.

• Load and unload trucks, trailers, and storage racks.

• Deliver materials to production lines and remove completed products.

• Verify materials against work orders, shipping documents, and labels.

• Perform routine forklift inspections and report maintenance or safety concerns.

• Accurately record inventory movements and complete required paperwork.

• Follow safety procedures, OSHA guidelines, and company policies.

• Keep work areas clean, organized, and free of hazards.

• Assist with general warehouse duties and other related tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

• Ability to operate sit-down, stand-up, or reach forklifts, as applicable to the assignment.

• Forklift certification or the ability to become certified.

• Previous forklift or warehouse experience preferred.

• Basic math and reading skills.

• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

• Strong attention to detail and safety awareness.

• Reliable attendance and punctuality.

• Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and pass required safety training.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds throughout an 8–12-hour shift.

• Work in a manufacturing and warehouse setting with exposure to moving machinery, noise, and temperature changes.
