Forklift Operator Description
We are seeking a dependable and safety-focused Recycling Forklift Operator to transport recyclable materials throughout the facility while maintaining a clean, organized, and compliant recycling operation.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Safely operate forklifts and lift trucks to transport recyclable and scrap materials throughout the facility
- Load and unload trailers, production lines, recycling areas, and waste collection locations
- Move pallets, gaylords, drums, containers, and other materials to designated storage areas
- Sort and separate recyclable materials according to company procedures
- Assist with baling cardboard, plastics, paper, and other recyclable materials
- Prepare damaged materials, containers, and drums for recycling and outbound shipment
- Weigh recyclable materials prior to shipment and maintain accurate material handling processes
- Load outbound recycling trailers while ensuring proper weight distribution and load security
- Perform daily forklift inspections and report maintenance or safety concerns
- Keep recycling areas, compactors, and waste handling locations clean, organized, and free of debris
- Follow all forklift, environmental, and safety procedures at all times
- Assist other departments as needed to support plant operations
Requirements
- Previous forklift experience required
- Forklift certification is preferred (or ability to become certified)
- Previous manufacturing, warehouse, recycling, or material handling experience preferred
- Ability to work safely in a fast-paced industrial environment
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work both indoors and outdoors as needed
- Strong attention to safety, organization, and teamwork
- Dependable attendance and a positive work ethic required
