Job Title: Forklift Operator

Job Summary:

The Forklift Operator is responsible for safely operating forklifts and other material-handling equipment to move, load, unload, stack, and organize products within a warehouse, distribution center, or manufacturing facility. This role helps maintain efficient warehouse operations while ensuring compliance with all safety regulations and company procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate forklifts and other powered industrial trucks safely and efficiently.
• Load and unload trucks, trailers, and shipping containers.
• Transport materials to designated storage or production areas.
• Stack and organize inventory while maximizing warehouse space.
• Inspect forklifts before each shift and report any maintenance or safety concerns.
• Follow all OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
• Verify incoming and outgoing shipments for accuracy and report discrepancies.
• Assist with inventory counts and maintain accurate inventory records.
• Keep work areas clean, organized, and free of hazards.
• Work closely with warehouse staff, shipping and receiving personnel, and supervisors to ensure timely movement of materials.
• Perform additional warehouse duties as assigned, including palletizing, wrapping, labeling, and general housekeeping.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Previous forklift operating experience preferred.
• Valid forklift certification or ability to obtain certification.
• Basic math and reading skills.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach throughout the workday.
• Ability to work in varying temperatures and warehouse environments.
• Good hand-eye coordination and depth perception.
• Ability to operate warehouse equipment safely for extended periods.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with warehouse management systems (WMS).
• Knowledge of shipping and receiving procedures.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Dependable, punctual, and team-oriented.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Working Conditions

• Warehouse, distribution center, or manufacturing environment.
• May require overtime, weekends, or holidays based on business needs.
• Exposure to moving machinery, warehouse traffic, and varying environmental conditions.
