    Forklift Operator

    Job Description Summary

    As a Forklift Driver Dauch, Inc. (“AAM”) you will be responsible for delivering materials, raw and finished parts to specified areas as well as maintaining inventory control and records. A Forklift Driver will have an understanding of the manufacturing and logistics process, daily operations, material handling, quality criteria, safety and trouble shooting ability. A Forklift Driver must be able to multitask, be self-motivated and be able to work in a team environment.

    Job Description:

    • Operate various types of forklifts (standard, rotating, dumper) and docking equipment to load, unload, move, stack and stage materials from customer and WIP trucks used in production
    • Demonstrate understanding of and maintain quality policy and Standard Operating Procedure (SOP)/Work Instructions daily
    • Follow Inventory control (FIFO) and Heat Lot Control procedures
    • Demonstrate ability to place material in inventory-style rows and track/update with handheld scanners
    • Assist in cycle counts and inventory audits, as required
    • Effectively interact with associates, management, drivers and customers by exchanging information, engaging others in conversation and responding to questions
    • Perform general housekeeping in and around designated work area; Knowledge of 5S
    • Communicate effectively to team leads and supervisor(s) regularly; keeping them updated on shipping and receiving activities and progresses, along with any issues that may arise
    • Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations
    • Conduct daily forklift and dock equipment safety checks

    Required Skills and Education

    REQUIRED:

    • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent
    • Previous forklift experience
    • Basic math skills. (i.e. addition and subtraction, working with decimals in both inches and metrics)
    • Ability to work daily and weekend overtime as scheduled
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Able to pass a forklift certification test
    • Certified through the company to operate a forklift
    • Must adhere to all safety requirements
    • Must show willingness to demonstrate S4 principles in daily job duties
    • Must show attention to detail, maintain a productive attitude and have willingness to take the extra steps needed to ensure the job is done correctly

    PREFERRED:

    • 3-5 years of production operations experience, particularly in high volume manufacturing
    • Familiarity with union environment
    • Experience in automotive, forging or similar industries
    • Operating knowledge of Plex
