Forklift Operator

Summary:

• Location: Lunenburg, MA
• Duration: 6 Months
• Shift Timings: 5am-1pm shift or 1pm-9pm

Responsibilities:

• Safely operate industrial forklifts in a fast-paced environment.
• Track loads and unload trucks to deliver units to customers according to requirements.
• Maintain accurate records of shipments to customers.
• Inspect forklift daily at the start of the shift, ensuring all safety features are operational and document inspection.
• Move materials throughout the facility safely and efficiently.
• Ensure the safety and cleanliness of the equipment and work area.
• Prevent damage during handling of materials shipped and warehoused.
• Load and unload trucks according to department standards and customer demands.
• Use an RF scanner for receipts of returns or deliveries.
• Verify all counts, quantities, quality, and descriptions of products and materials received, shipped, or warehoused.
• Service production lines by delivering products as requested.
• Properly palletize or stretch wrap a unit.
• Complete paperwork associated with the movement of products and materials accurately and timely.
• Maintain general cleanliness of the warehouse and loading docks.
• Safely change forklift propane tanks.
• Assist other departments as needed and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• High School diploma or G.E.D.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to read and write basic English, interpret documents, and comprehend instructions.
• Basic arithmetic skills, including dealing with decimals and fractions.
• Ability to read a tape measure.
• Effective communication skills with employees and customers, both verbally and in writing.
• Good attendance record.
• Availability to work overtime, weekends, or other shifts.
• Physical ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, kneel, navigate stairs, and drive in reverse throughout the shift.

Preferred Skills:

• Previous forklift experience in a high-volume, high-speed environment.
• Forklift driver certification valid within the last 12 months is preferred, but training will be provided.
• Ability to learn proprietary software programs for Corrugated Manufacturing systems.
