The Warehouse Forklift Operator is responsible for transporting incoming freight from staging areas into inventory storage locations, including multi-level warehouse racks. This position ensures inventory is accurately stored, replenished, and rotated while maintaining safety, quality, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) standards. The associate supports production and warehouse operations by maintaining an efficient flow of materials and inventory throughout the facility.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Review daily work schedules and prepare equipment and materials needed for operations.
Conduct pre-operation safety inspections on forklifts, power jacks, and other warehouse equipment.
Work from receiving documents, computer-generated reports, standard operating procedures, and verbal or written instructions.
Verify incoming freight by performing count checks and transporting products from staging areas to designated storage locations.
Inspect products for damage, quality issues, and temperature compliance; take corrective action when necessary.
Operate forklifts, reach trucks, hi-lifts, and power jacks to move materials safely and efficiently.
Accurately place inventory into storage locations and record product information using RF scanners or handheld devices.
Replenish warehouse pick slots with inventory according to production schedules and customer orders.
Rotate date-sensitive inventory using FIFO procedures and remove outdated products according to company policies.
Relocate overstocked merchandise to temporary storage locations as needed.
Remove and dispose of empty pallets, cardboard, packaging materials, and strapping.
Inspect, stack, and transport pallets to designated storage areas.
Perform routine housekeeping duties to maintain a clean and safe work environment.
Replace and recharge equipment batteries and complete vehicle inspection checklists.
Secure equipment and complete required paperwork at the end of each shift.
Collaborate with team members and perform additional duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
Education
Required
High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience
Required
6 to 12 months of warehouse experience.
Completion of forklift and/or power jack training and certification.
Preferred
1 to 2 years of warehouse forklift operating experience.
Experience working in a foodservice or food distribution environment.
Experience operating stand-up and reach forklifts.
Freezer warehouse experience.
Certifications
Preferred
OSHA Forklift Operator Certification.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to safely operate forklifts, reach trucks, hi-lifts, and power jacks.
Experience using RF scanners and handheld inventory management devices.
Knowledge of inventory control, stock rotation, and warehouse storage procedures.
Understanding of warehouse safety practices, GMP standards, and quality requirements.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in inventory handling.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and work independently or as part of a team.
Physical Requirements
Frequent standing and walking throughout the shift.
Ability to sit for extended periods while operating warehouse equipment.
Frequent bending, twisting, reaching, and lifting.
Ability to safely lift and move materials as required by warehouse operations.
Ability to work in varying warehouse temperatures, including freezer environments when necessary.
Schedule
1st Shift: 5:00 AM to 1:30 PM
Overtime may be required; shifts may extend to approximately 10 to 12 hours based on business needs and workload.
