Location: Charlotte, NC
Schedule: 7AM TO 3:30PM

Position Summary:

We are currently hiring a Brake Press / Forming Machine Operator to support the fabrication of metal components used in genset (generator set) enclosures. This role involves the precise operation of hydraulic brake press and folding machines to bend and shape sheet metal according to detailed specifications. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in metal forming, a keen eye for quality, and a dedication to safety and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

• Set up and operate brake press and folding machines based on engineering specs

• Select and install tooling, adjust back gauges, and set bend allowances

• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work orders to determine bend angles and tolerances

• Perform accurate forming and bending operations on sheet metal

• Conduct in-process inspections using calipers, protractors, tape measures, etc.

• Monitor machine operations and make real-time adjustments as needed

• Load and unload parts safely and efficiently

• Perform routine machine maintenance and basic troubleshooting

• Accurately document production data and report issues to the supervisor

• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workspace following 5S and OSHA standards

• Follow all safety procedures and wear proper PPE

Required Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent

• 1+ year of experience operating a press brake in a sheet metal or fabrication environment

• Ability to read mechanical blueprints and technical drawings

• Proficiency with hand tools and precision measuring instruments

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods

• Strong attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and commitment to quality

• Experience operating press brake machines

• Familiarity with folding machines

• Understanding of metal materials (steel, stainless steel, aluminum) used in enclosure fabrication

Preferred Skills:

• Experience programming/editing bend sequences on press brake control panels

• Understanding of OSHA safety regulations

• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills

• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities

• Self-motivated with the ability to multi-task and work independently

• Experience in a continuous improvement or lean manufacturing environment
