Job Title: Formulation Chemist (Formulation Development, Operational Support Team)
Location: Research Triangle Park, NC 27709 - 100% onsite
Duration: 12 months contract
Shift: 08:00 AM - 05:00 PM (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday)


Job Description:
As part of Global Formulation Development function, conduct cross-indicational formulation development activities with a focus on product launch excellence and regional support for herbicide and fungicide products.
The incumbent will support the advancement of lab activities for the development, registration and manufacture of new formulations for Crop Protection as well as provide support for existing product portfolio.

Key responsibilities will include:
Design and implement detailed, often complex, formulation R&D programs consistent with approved business cases for active ingredients and formulations.
Execute formulation R&D projects, both regional and global, to achieve company objectives and communicate project status through technical reports and presentations.
Design, conduct and interpret experiments and studies to advance formulation development while ensuring registrability and manufacturability of the developed products.
Analyze and identify variables and deviations in samples, procedures, and equipment and then recommend changes if necessary
Prepare and evaluate experimental formulations using various formulation equipment and procedures
Evaluate formulations using standard physical, chemical and biological methods
Operate and maintain a variety of formulation equipment
Utilize existing and implement new formulation and application technologies within a development program
Participate in the scale-up and manufacturing launch of the developed products
Provide technical and commercial support after-market launch

Qualifications
Minimum Experience Required:

B.S. in a scientific discipline such as chemistry or biology) and hands-on practical experience in an R&D environment.
Demonstrated record of achievement for formulation research and development from discovery to commercialization phases
Proven ability to lead, plan, coordinate and complete research projects on difficult problems with cross-functional teams
Track record of generating new innovation and application of cutting-edge technology
Serious safety focus, attention to detail, problem solving and decision-making skills
Capability in training and supervising newer members of the team, as and when needed
Interest in self-development through continuous learning
Mechanical aptitude and some knowledge of engineering principles
Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills

Assets:
Skilled in polymer science, physical chemistry or colloidal chemistry
Know-how in the areas of adjuvants and surfactants
Experience in transfer of products from lab to manufacturing scale.

Responsibilities:

Performs tasks/projects of a larger scope; may lead specific tasks within the project scope; scopes tasks and develops approaches for moderately difficult tasks; takes responsibility for assuring quality, cost effectiveness and timeliness for small projects.
Assists in preparation of reports, papers, presentations, new proposals, etc... , and may collaborate on some; presents papers at technical meetings.
Continues to enhance capabilities for project planning, including assessment of cost, scope and schedule against plan; implements new systems/approaches for moderately difficult tasks/projects.
Has established networks in internal peer group; starts becoming part of identifiable external peer network.
Interacts in a collaborative manner with other team members to accomplish organizational goals; provides ideas to improve efficiency at group level.
Participates in procurement of additional/new funding through contributions to technical proposal preparation and/or presentations.
Contributes to positive co-worker/customer/investigator relationships through efficient interaction on current grants/projects.

Responsibility for directing others:
Monitors the work of junior staff to ensure that correct procedures are followed; provides direction to assure completion of technical tasks and projects.

Education requirement, minimum:
Bachelor's or Master's degree or higher in an appropriate field. Experience requirement, minimum: Two to four year's experience in a related area or equivalent.
