Role: Forward Deployment Engineer (FDE)
About the Role
We are looking for a Forward Deployment Engineer (FDE) to join our team. Part software engineer, part technical consultant, and part solutions architect, the FDE sits at the intersection of our core engineering team and our enterprise customers. You will work directly with clients on-site and remotely to deploy, integrate, and extend our product platform to solve their most complex operational challenges.
Key Responsibilities
* Customer Integration & Deployment: Architect and implement custom software solutions, data pipelines, and system integrations on-site or in client cloud environments.
* Technical Problem Solving: Debug, troubleshoot, and resolve deep technical issues across complex distributed systems, network configurations, and database architectures.
* Core Product Strategy: Act as the technical feedback loop between clients and core engineering—identifying feature gaps, abstracting client-specific solutions into platform features, and writing code for our primary codebase.
* Client Management: Build deep technical trust with enterprise IT, engineering, and business leaders; translate non-technical business requirements into robust, scalable engineering specs.
Qualifications & Requirements
* Software Engineering: 3+ years of professional software development experience in languages such as Python, Java, C++, Go, or TypeScript/Node.js.
* Systems & Data Infrastructure: Hands-on experience with relational/non-relational databases, SQL, ETL pipelines, and API design (REST/gRPC).
* Cloud & DevOps: Proficiency with Linux/Unix environments, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and cloud providers (AWS, GCP, Azure).
* Consulting & Communication: Strong client-facing skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
* Mobility: Willingness to travel (up to 25–50% depending on client needs).
Preferred Experience
* Background in enterprise software deployment, solutions architecture, or technical consulting.
* Experience working with large-scale datasets, machine learning platforms, or distributed computing frameworks (e.g., Spark).
* Familiarity with security compliance protocols (SOC2, HIPAA, FedRAMP).
