About the Company
Our client is an early-stage, venture-backed company building financial software for the public sector — helping finance and treasury teams at local governments handle reconciliation, reporting, cash-flow forecasting, and AI-driven financial insights. They're already live with their first government customers and scaling their footprint across California and the Western US, with a mission of making public money work harder for the agencies that manage it.
Founded 2025 · 1–10 people · Industry: FinTech / GovTech
The Role
This is one of the first two seats on the sales team. You'll work directly with the head of go-to-market to build the outbound engine from the ground up — cold calls, email, and LinkedIn — generating qualified meetings with finance and treasury leaders at local government agencies. There's a clear, performance-based path into an account executive seat for whoever earns it, tied to results rather than tenure.
What you'll be doing
- Own top-of-funnel outreach across cold calls, email, and LinkedIn to finance and treasury teams at local government agencies
- Book qualified meetings for the head of go-to-market and make sure those conversations are substantive, not just booked
- Develop real, lasting relationships with agency contacts rather than treating outreach as transactional
- Keep pipeline activity, cadences, and follow-through organized in the CRM
- Partner with leadership to sharpen messaging, targeting, and strategy as the sales motion expands geographically
Tech stack: CRM and outbound sales tooling.
Requirements
- Up to roughly three years of sales or GTM experience — or a strong, demonstrable track record of grit and drive that transfers into this kind of role
- Willing and able to work in-person in Santa Monica five days a week (relocation support is available)
- Genuine follow-through and a relationship-first approach, not just high activity numbers
- Authorized to work in the US (no visa sponsorship available for this role)
Nice to Haves
- A prior sales internship or early exposure to GovTech / public-sector software
- A competitive or high-performance background (for example, collegiate athletics)
- Clear, authentic alignment with a public-sector, mission-driven purpose
- A genuine relationship-builder rather than a high-volume "smile and dial" style
- Familiarity with CRM and outbound sales tools; a background in economics, political science, business, or government
Why Join
- Be one of the first two hires on the sales team and help build the playbook from scratch
- Uncapped commission on top of a solid base, plus negotiable founding-team equity
- A real, performance-based path into an account executive role
- Meaningful, mission-driven work improving how public money is managed
