Software Engineer
Location: San Francisco, CA
Company Stage of Funding: Seed Stage – $8.3M Raised
Office Type: On-site, 5 days/week
Salary: $150,000–$300,000 + 0.4%–0.8% Equity
Company Description
We’re representing an early-stage AI company building an agentic integration platform for the physical economy. The platform uses specialized AI agents to automate the full lifecycle of complex enterprise integrations—from gathering requirements and generating code through testing, deployment, monitoring, and remediation.
The company is tackling a major infrastructure problem across manufacturing, logistics, warehousing, and supply chain businesses, where highly customized legacy systems still require expensive, manual integration work.
The company has raised approximately $8.3M, has paying enterprise customers with production integrations, and is seeing more customer demand than the small team can currently support. The founding team previously helped scale a European e-commerce logistics startup from pre-seed to more than 400 employees.
What You Will Do
- Build new, purpose-specific AI coding agents for complex supply chain and enterprise integrations.
- Develop the infrastructure used to host, deploy, and operate customer integrations at scale.
- Work across both the agentic AI layer and infrastructure/backend systems rather than specializing in one narrow area.
- Own core systems end-to-end, from initial architecture through production.
- Build complex full-stack products using a modern TypeScript-based stack.
- Make foundational technical and architectural decisions as part of a very small engineering team.
- Help establish engineering patterns, tooling, and practices that future engineers will build upon.
- Work directly with the founders on product and technical decisions.
- Rapidly experiment with new AI/LLM approaches as the capabilities of models and agents evolve.
- Build systems from scratch rather than primarily maintaining mature existing infrastructure.
- Take significant ownership over product quality, reliability, and execution.
Ideal Background
- 2–5 years of full-time professional software engineering experience, primarily as a full-stack or backend engineer.
- Must have worked at a VC-backed Seed through Series B startup.
- At least one meaningful tenure at a high-caliber, standout startup.
- Strong TypeScript experience and modern full-stack product engineering ability.
- Has personally shipped and owned complex software products end-to-end.
- Hands-on experience building with AI agents and LLMs using current approaches and tooling.
- Demonstrated ability to operate with significant autonomy and build products from scratch.
- Strong evidence of 01 engineering ability, rather than primarily maintaining mature systems.
- Comfortable making decisions without highly structured requirements or significant management oversight.
- Strong communicator who can work directly with founders and a small technical team.
- Genuinely motivated by an intense, early-stage startup environment.
- Able to work in person in San Francisco five days per week.
Preferred
- Former founder or founding/early engineer at a fast-growing startup.
- Experience building a meaningful product or technical system from 01.
- Background at strong developer infrastructure, AI infrastructure, or agent-focused companies.
- Experience designing or building AI coding agents.
- Experience with infrastructure-heavy products or developer platforms.
- High-agency technical side projects, launched products, or agentic tools demonstrating initiative outside assigned work.
- Strong academic background in computer science or engineering, although exceptional startup experience can substitute for school pedigree.
- Experience with technologies such as TypeScript, React, Bun, Effect-TS, PostgreSQL, Kubernetes, and AWS.
- Strong product instincts in addition to backend/infrastructure depth.
Compensation and Benefits
- Base salary: $150,000–$300,000 depending on experience.
- Equity: Approximately 0.4%–0.8%.
- Location: San Francisco, CA.
- Office: 5 days per week in person.
- Visa: Transfers such as H-1B transfers, O-1, and TN can be considered. New sponsorship is generally not preferred and is considered case-by-case for exceptional candidates.
- Small team of approximately 5 employees with significant individual ownership.
- Opportunity to work directly with the founding team and influence foundational architecture.
- Best suited for engineers specifically seeking a high-intensity Seed-stage environment, rather than the structure or specialization of a larger engineering organization.
- Not a fit for: new grads or internship-only profiles, big-tech-only backgrounds, management-focused candidates, engineers requiring significant direction, or candidates without meaningful Seed–Series B startup experience.
