We are recruiting for a Founding iOS Engineer for a fast-growing consumer marketplace technology company in New York City.
This is a rare senior-level iOS opportunity to help build a native mobile app from the ground up and define the architecture, standards, product direction, and long-term mobile strategy.
This is not a ticket-taking role. The right person will be a foundational mobile engineering leader with strong product instincts, excellent engineering judgment, and a high bar for quality.
What You Will Do
Own the native iOS app across core customer journeys
Build and scale a high-quality iOS codebase using Swift, SwiftUI, and UIKit
Define mobile architecture, state management, networking, testing, observability, CI/CD, and release standards
Partner closely with Product, Design, Backend Engineering, Data, and leadership
Build polished, fast, reliable, consumer-facing mobile experiences
Improve app performance, stability, navigation, rendering, networking, error handling, and release quality
Help shape mobile product strategy and future iOS team development
Must Have
5+ years of production iOS engineering experience
Strong Swift experience
Experience with SwiftUI, UIKit, or modern iOS architecture patterns
Experience building high-quality consumer-facing mobile applications
Ability to own or heavily influence architecture decisions for an iOS codebase
Strong product sense and attention to mobile UX, performance, polish, and edge cases
Experience working with backend engineers on APIs, data contracts, and system tradeoffs
Strong fundamentals in code quality, testing, observability, release reliability, and operational ownership
Preferred
Experience building a native iOS app from the ground up
XCTest, UI testing, CI/CD, AWS, Datadog, REST APIs, or GraphQL experience
CS degree or strong computer science fundamentals
Experience with top-tier consumer products, engineering-driven companies, or elite startup environments
Interest in helping build and mentor a future mobile engineering team

Location: New York, NY
Schedule: onsite Monday through Thursday, remote Friday
Compensation: $190K to $210K base salary plus equity
