ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES
We are seeking a Principal/Founding AI Engineer for a confidential early-stage technology company building AI-driven platforms across three commercial verticals - autonomous engineering workflow automation, computer vision for industrial and field environments, and real-time AI safety inspection systems. This is a rare opportunity for a founding technical leader with experience in production AI, deep learning, and edge deployment looking to shape the architecture, strategy, and product direction of a company building category-defining AI technology.
Architect AI systems across multiple product lines from concept through production deployment
Design, train, and optimize deep learning and computer vision models for real-world commercial applications
Build and maintain machine learning pipelines, model evaluation frameworks, and continuous learning infrastructure
Develop agentic AI workflows and multi-agent systems supporting autonomous decision-making and task execution
Design and optimize LLM and Vision Language Model (VLM) integrations across platform products
Build edge AI deployments integrating AI models with embedded electronics and IoT devices in remote or industrial environments
Develop APIs and inference services supporting scalable, production-grade AI delivery
Evaluate emerging AI research and assess commercial applicability across the product portfolio
Collaborate with software and hardware engineers to integrate AI capabilities into end-to-end product experiences
Influence product architecture, technology selection, and future engineering hiring as a founding technical leader
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
Strong hands-on experience in AI/ML engineering including deep learning, generative AI, agentic AI, and multi-agent systems
Production computer vision experience including object detection, image classification, segmentation, object tracking, and pose estimation using frameworks such as YOLO, Faster R-CNN, DETR, or Vision Transformers
Proficiency in PyTorch and/or TensorFlow with experience in model optimization, transfer learning, CUDA, ONNX, and TensorRT
Strong Python and software engineering fundamentals including FastAPI, REST APIs, Docker, Git, and Linux
Cloud infrastructure experience across AWS, Azure, or GCP with familiarity with Kubernetes, MLflow, or Weights & Biases
Experience deploying AI to edge hardware such as NVIDIA Jetson, Raspberry Pi, ESP32, or embedded Linux environments
Demonstrated track record of taking AI models from research through production in real-world applications
Comfortable operating in an early-stage, high-autonomy startup environment with a builders mindset
BONUS QUALIFICATIONS
Experience with CAD systems, engineering software, digital twins, or autonomous systems
Background in robotics, industrial automation, drone vision, or industrial inspection
Familiarity with GIS, LiDAR, point clouds, or geospatial AI
Experience with survey technologies, embedded systems, or IoT device integration
Active engagement with current AI research - reading and applying papers to production systems
