Addressing pressing healthcare issues in our community has never been more critical. We are seeking passionate individuals who are dedicated to propelling our community healthcare into a promising and healthier future for Central Florida. This position is an un-paid / volunteer position.
Board members come with different backgrounds, education, experiences, and goals. The qualities that make a great member of the Board of Directors:
Being a current UCF Health patient or the parent/guardian of a UCF Health patient.
Understanding and belief in UCF Health's mission and vision.
Understanding of challenges, opportunities, and strengths of Federally Qualified Health Centers.
Desire to work collaboratively with other board members in a community setting.
Helpful, but not required, is training or experience in one of the following areas:
Community affairs
Marketing/public relations
Personnel management and employee relations
Healthcare delivery
Financial management
Legal
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
Every member of the Board of Directors is required to participate in UCF Health's FQHC-LA monthly meetings. The roles and responsibilities required for the volunteer role include:
Ensure that the needs and interests of all members of the community are represented in plans and decisions impacting health center services.
Attend board meetings regularly and be an active participant.
Maintain complete confidentiality of board discussions and information.
Serve on at least one committee:
Finance Committee
Strategic Planning Committee
Support/Development Committee
Time Commitment
Board of Director terms are for a period of three years. The Board meets monthly. Subcommittee meetings are intermittently, varying from monthly to quarterly, depending on the committee. The average time commitment is 3 hours per month, including reviewing monthly Board Reports, minutes, and policies as they arise.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Be at least 18 years old and a current UCF Health patient or business leader in the community
FQHC Board applicants may not have more than half of their non-patient Board members receive income that exceeds 10% of their annual income from the healthcare industry.
Successfully completion of a background check
Follow the Board’s Code of Ethics
Sign the annual Conflict of Interest Policy
