Framing Carpenter -- 5-Day Tiny Cabin Build, Boulder (Temp)

Five days of straight framing work on a small, well-organized job in the Boulder foothills. Mid-to-late September, one week, done.

We're building a 10' x 12' tiny cabin on a completed pier foundation. The concrete is in, the drainage is in, the lumber will be on site and the cut list is already done — 320 pieces, batch-cut and labeled before you arrive. You will not spend this week waiting on materials or figuring out what to cut next.

The work, in order

• Floor system: PT rim and skirt on nine piers, joists at 16" o.c., 3/4" T&G subfloor glued and screwed
• Four walls built flat on the deck, sheathed, tilted, braced, plumbed and straightened
• 6:12 gable roof: 14' ridge beam, 14 rafters off a master pattern, gable ends, gable studs
• Front porch: two 4x4 posts, 14' beam, three porch rafters
• Subfascia, cornice, hurricane ties, roof sheathing

What you need

• Real framing experience — you can lay out a wall, cut a rafter, and read a tape to 1/16"
• Your own hand tools and belt
• Comfortable working at height on scaffold (ridge is about 11'-6")
• Able to lift 80 lb and work a full day outdoors
• Reliable transportation. This is a foothills site west of Boulder with no transit and limited parking
• Show up on time, all five days. A five-day schedule has no slack in it
