Description

Johnson Service Group (JSG) is seeking multiple Auto Dealership Fraud Investigation Associates to support a leading automotive finance organization in Califonia. In this role, you will conduct detailed reviews of dealership-submitted vehicle financing transactions to identify misrepresentation, fraud indicators, policy violations, and documentation discrepancies. The ideal candidate will possess strong investigative, analytical, and reporting skills, with experience reviewing consumer credit applications, vehicle loan files, dealership operations, and financing documentation. This role requires the ability to present findings clearly through PowerPoint presentations and written investigative reports.
This position is remote but MUST live within 75 miles of Central Orange County, CA 
Work Schedule- Monday- Friday - 8:00am- 5:00pm
Hourly Pay rate:  $40-$45 per hour


Key Responsibilities
  • Compile and package deal-level evidence to support Legal, Sales, and dealer discussions
  • Perform independent verification of income, employment, residence, SSN, and VIN using internal and external sources
  • Contact and interview customers, dealers, or third parties as part of investigations (as required)
  • Maintain case documentation in tracking systems (e.g., CRM, case management tools, or Excel trackers)
  • Ability to review high volumes of loan files/transactions efficiently
  • Conduct audits of dealership-originated vehicle financing transactions.
  • Review credit applications, loan documentation, customer information, and supporting records for accuracy and compliance.
  • Identify potential fraud, misrepresentation, identity discrepancies, income inflation, straw purchases, and other suspicious activity.
  • Perform skip tracing and investigative research to verify customer and transaction information.
  • Analyze credit bureau reports and supporting documentation to identify inconsistencies and risk indicators.
  • Investigate dealer practices that may violate company policies, lending guidelines, or regulatory requirements.
  • Document findings and prepare detailed audit reports.
  • Develop PowerPoint presentations summarizing investigation results, trends, and recommendations for management.
  • Collaborate with Fraud Prevention, Credit Risk, Dealer Services, Compliance, and Legal teams.
  • Escalate suspicious findings and assist with remediation efforts.
  • Track investigation outcomes and maintain case documentation.
Qualifications
  • Experience in any of the following fields:
    • Auto finance
    • Dealer audits
    • Loan investigations
    • Credit analysis
    • Fraud investigations
    • Consumer lending
  • Experience reviewing any of the following:
    • Vehicle financing contracts
    • Credit applications
    • Income verification documents
    • Loan files
  • Experience conducting skip tracing investigations.
  • Microsoft PowerPoint skills with the ability to create presentations.
  • Strong analytical and investigative abilities.
Preferred
  • Experience working for an automotive lender, bank, credit union, captive finance company, or dealership group.
  • Familiarity with:
    • Dealer fraud investigations
    • Identity theft investigations
    • Credit risk analysis
    • Regulatory compliance
  • Knowledge of:
    • Credit bureau reports
    • Consumer lending practices
    • Auto finance operations
    • Fraud detection techniques
