Freelance Bengali Interpreter

We are looking for skilled freelance Bengali–English interpreter to help patients, families, and healthcare providers communicate clearly during medical appointments throughout the Philadelphia area.

Assignments may take place in hospitals, outpatient clinics, physician offices, and other healthcare facilities.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate accurate, complete, and impartial communication between Bengali-speaking patients, their families, and English-speaking healthcare professionals.

• Demonstrate professionalism, cultural sensitivity, and respect for patient confidentiality.

• Report to scheduled assignments on time, prepared, and dressed appropriately for the healthcare setting.

• Maintain professional boundaries and follow all facility policies and healthcare privacy requirements.

Required qualifications

• Professional fluency in both Bengali and English.

• Previous experience providing medical interpretation.

• Strong knowledge of medical terminology and communication in healthcare settings.

• Ability to interpret accurately during sensitive conversations and high-pressure situations.

• Reliable transportation and availability to accept assignments across the Philadelphia area.

Preferred qualifications

• Completion of at least 40 hours of medical interpreter training.

• Interpreting experience in hospitals, emergency departments, specialty practices, behavioral health settings, or similar healthcare environments.

• Familiarity with HIPAA and healthcare confidentiality standards.
