WE ARE RECRUITING INTERPRETERS AND TRANSLATORS Asian Services in Action has an ongoing need for highly motivated and bright individuals who are Bilingual and possess a diversified set of skills to be part of our freelance interpreter 's pool to bridge the cultural and linguistic divide between the English Language Learner and service providers. Currently we have a specific need for Bengali, Bosnian, Burmese, Chinese (Fuzhounese, Taishanese …), Cantonese, Dari, Hindi, Karen, Korean, Lao, Nepali, Pashto, Portuguese, Punjabi, Russian/Ukrainian, Serbian -Croation, Somali, Swahili, Thai and Vietnamese interpreters. DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES • Interpreters p rovide onsite (face to face), phone or Virtual interpreting in a medica l, social service, legal, court, school or business setting. • Interpreters are responsible for their own travel to and from the assignment (reimbursement for mileage). • Interpreters will render a complete and accurate interpretation by reproducing in the target language the closest natural equivalent of the source language message, without altering, omitting, or adding anything to the meaning of what is stated or written, and without explanation. • Manage work schedules to meet deadlines. • Be dependable and have a professional appearance • Able to travel around Akron / Cleveland area MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 1. Pass a criminal background check 2. Complete New Interpreter Orientation / Beginner Interpreter Medical Training 3. Must be fluent in both target language and English 4. Must have high school diploma 5. Must have Authorization to work in the U.S. 6. Legal interpreting experience a plus 7. For medical interpreters: test negative for tuberculo sis (TB) and be current on MMR and Hepatitis B vaccinations. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 1. 40- hours interpreter training certificate 2.
