Freelance Social Art Director, Junior to Mid Level

The Role

We are looking for a social first Art Director with a strong visual eye and a passion for creating engaging content across social media, digital channels, and video.

You''ll work across platforms including Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and other digital touchpoints, developing visual ideas that feel relevant to the platform, audience, and brand. This could include social assets, short form video, digital display, website content, and broader integrated campaign work.

You''ll be comfortable taking a brief and turning it into strong visual concepts, working closely with copywriters, designers, editors, and other members of the creative team to bring ideas to life. You should have a good understanding of what works across different social platforms and be interested in emerging creative tools, including AI assisted tools for visual exploration, mood boarding, and concept development.

This is a fast paced creative environment, so we''re looking for someone who can manage multiple projects, respond well to feedback, and bring fresh visual thinking to the work.

We''re looking for:

• Strong design and visual communication skills
• A portfolio demonstrating social first creative work, art direction, and digital content
• Ability to interpret a brief and translate it into engaging visual ideas and concepts
• A strong understanding of social media platforms, visual trends, and platform specific creative best practices
• Experience creating or art directing content across channels such as Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and other digital platforms
• An interest in new creative tools and emerging technology, including AI assisted tools for visual ideation and content development
• Ability to take feedback from creative leads, clients, and stakeholders and apply it thoughtfully to the work
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Ability to quickly understand a brand, its audience, and its visual identity
• Strong attention to detail and consistency across different formats and platforms
• Comfortable working with copywriters, designers, editors, videographers, and other creative partners
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast paced creative environment
• A genuine interest in social media, digital culture, visual trends, and new ways of creating content

This is a freelance opportunity expected to run from October through December 2026. The anticipated rate for this role is up to $700 per day, or approximately $90 per hour. Individual compensation will be commensurate with the candidate''s experience and local cost of labor. Rate is subject to change based on factors such as geographic location and cost of living in the location of hire.
