About the Role
Our client, a Korean company based in Atlanta, GA, is building its own in-house freight brokerage capability and hiring an experienced Freight Broker to set it up and run it. This is a hands-on, entrepreneurial role for a self-starter who can build the brokerage function from the ground up: establishing carrier and customer networks, negotiating rates, managing loads, and growing a book of business. Strong freight brokerage experience is the top priority, and candidates of any nationality are welcome.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and build out the freight brokerage operation, including processes, carrier network, and customer base.
- Develop new business and build a book of business with shippers and customers.
- Source, vet, and build relationships with carriers, and secure capacity.
- Negotiate freight rates and manage margins.
- Book, dispatch, and track shipments from pickup through delivery.
- Resolve service issues and ensure on-time, compliant delivery.
- Manage rate confirmations, load documentation, and records.
- Coordinate with internal teams and stakeholders to integrate the in-house brokerage function.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a freight broker, with a track record of building and managing freight (7+ years preferred).
- Ability to independently set up and grow a brokerage operation.
- Strong negotiation, sales, and relationship management skills.
- Solid knowledge of freight brokerage operations, carrier sourcing, rate negotiation, and load management.
- Familiarity with TMS (transportation management systems) and load boards (e.g., DAT, Truckstop).
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Fluent English.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. No visa sponsorship is available.
Preferred Qualifications
- Established carrier and/or customer relationships, or an existing book of business.
- Experience with international or cross-border freight.
- Korean language ability (a plus for internal coordination; not required).

Compensation & Benefits
- Compensation: base salary of $75,000 - $95,000, based on experience. A discretionary annual bonus may be offered depending on company policy. This role is not commission-based.
