Scheduled/Hours: 18 hours per week, Monday - Friday
This position is responsible for
Monitors the arrival and departure of children from the facility; provides information and answers questions about programs, classes and scheduled events; provides supervision during recreation and physical activities
Key Responsibilities
- Assists in preparing, beverages and snacks; assists in the preparation of special meals to include picnics, special programs, etc.
- Coordinates the timing of and snacks with the leaders and teachers.
- Assists in serving snacks ensuring appropriate proportions are provided; provides counts to the Program Coordinator.
- Maintains inventory; ensures items are stocked and organized with supplies; advised the supervisor of any needs.
- Gives tours to prospective Center families and other interested parties.
- Answers phones, takes messages, and transfers calls.
- Provides guidance and assistance to children arriving and leaving the After School program; responds to questions from parents regarding daily activities.
- Supervises and monitors children during recreational and physical activities; observes, monitors, and supervises children on the playground.
- Discusses areas of concern with supervisory staff and teachers.
- Exhibits control of the children and, when needed, displays proper discipline techniques.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Ability to complete the Safe From Harm training within seven (7) days of hire.
- Ability to monitor children's activities to ensure their health and safety.
- Ability to respond to emergency situations in a calm and appropriate manner.
- Knowledge of cleaning practices, methods, and techniques.
- Ability to assist in the preparation and presentation of snacks and meals.
- Ability to wash dishes and kitchen appliances.
- Ability to clean kitchen and dining area.
- Ability to communicate effectively with children and staff.
