Job Description:

The Front Desk Receptionist is responsible for greeting patients, answering telephone calls, gathering, and inputting patient data, collecting payments, scheduling visits, obtaining records, and other various administrative tasks for the Los Angeles Cancer Network (LACN). This role will provide support for the front office area and serve as the initial interaction between the patient and LACN.

Essential Functions:

Daily

  • Review and triage schedule

  • Collect and input patient demographic information into their G4, if changed

  • New Patient Packets

  • Verify for Each Patient Daily: Insurance, Home Address, Phone Number, emergency contact CareSpace, Pharmacies (patient preferred and LACN Pharmacy must be listed), Advanced Directives (dated current year), and most recent Insurance Card Scanned.

  • Check co-pay sheet, IOD copay collect required payments throughout the day.

  • Prepare patient identification wristbands.

  • Warmly greet patients, check them in, and room patients appropriately.

  • Answer phones, check voicemails, and monitor text messages.

  • Check: Group inbox, CareSpace inbox, Task inbox Email, Microsoft Teams, Relatient, Website Inquiries, Faxes, and other communication modalities.

  • Assist with the coordination of patient care, calling specialists, imaging centers, and external facilities as needed. Document accurately.

  • Schedule patient visits, reschedule visits, cancel visits, and call patients back for any missed appointments. Attempt to reschedule any canceled/no-show visits same day.

  • Assist with patient forms- disability, FMLA, etc.

  • Maintain the cleanliness of your station. Ensure no protected health information is left out.

  • Update and move Saturday orders.

  • Chart Prep- labs, medical records, etc.

  • Log out of all systems and computers before the shift ends.

Weekly

  • Prepare mail and co-pays for pick up (if applicable).

Ongoing

  • Complete training on time, as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Current CPR certification.

  • Basic computer knowledge.

  • Previous Oncology/ Hematology experience (preferred)

Additional Requirements:

  • Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time, with occasional walking.

  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Able to travel to satellite clinics when necessary.

  • Must be willing and able to lift up to 25 pounds.

Salary Transparency: Exact compensation may vary based on skills, education, certifications, experience, and location. Base Salary Range: $21.00 to $23.00 per hour.
